Futures Close Report 08/06/21

France – first production forecast for 21:

• Winter rapeseed production was forecast to fall 9.2% to 2.95 million tonnes, below 3 million for the first time in 20 year. Planted area was down from 1.11 million hectares previously to 984k hectares.  Plantings having been disrupted by dry conditions during the autumn planting window last year. Yield is forecast to increase to circa 3t per hectare but this is not enough to offset area lost.
• Winter wheat area in France was up 15% at 4.9 million hectares planted.
