Futures Close Report 18th April 2018

China’s corn demand is expected to rise by 15 million tonnes to 225 million tonnes in 2018, according to a report published by China’s starch industry association.

UK benign weather conditions finally facilitate some good progress on delayed spring planting programs.  All merchants report lack of engagement by farmers as they scramble to plant – old crop origination on wheat therefore remains slow providing support to the high premiums.   Weather conditions remain the key element for market thinking at the moment.
