Futures Close Report 6th March 2018

Slight improvements reported  for US wheat in Kansas and Oklahoma, this combined with improving forward weather outlook has helped pull US wheat back from its recent hard rally.  USDA will issue their next S&D report on Thursday updating projected stocks  – US exports remain relatively weak so increasing stocks are expected by analysts.

UK domestic prices firming as it seems that Vivergo (the 2nd UK ethanol from wheat plant) may be recommencing production shortly –  the plant has been shut for an extended period of maintenance – it is unknown if it is an immediate restart at full production, but UK feed wheat balance is currently quite tight despite the lack of export trade – much of the wheat left on farms is of a higher quality grade which may ultimately end up in the feed bins – therefore market pricing is reacting accordingly.
