Futures Close Report: 8th May 2017

US Planting progress:

• Corn 47% planted up from 34% last week and slightly behind the 5 year average of 52% for the same week.
• Soybeans 14% planted up from 10% last weeks and slightly behind the 5 year average of 17% for the same week.
• Spring Wheat was 54% planted up from 31% last week overall crop rating on Winter Wheat seen as 53% good / excellent down only 1% on the week despite the cold conditions in the US.

France – Ag ministry forecast for Maize plantings seen down 2.3% on last year at 1.39 million hectares.
